The Nursery's Timetable and Routines The routines and activities that make up the nursery's session/day are arranged in such a way that the children gain individual attention to feel valued and to ensure that they gain from the social experience of being part of a group. Children are encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities that introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills. Children can choose from a range of activities to help build their confidence and their ability to select and work through a task to completion. Sufficient opportunities are provided for them to both learn and play and to take time out to relax. Activities are planned to take account of the children's changing energy levels throughout the day and include:
“Staff provide an inspiring learning environment in which children enjoy a range of learning experiences and are able follow their own interests, indoors and outside.” (Ofsted 2014) Outdoor activities contribute to children's health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around us. The children play outdoors daily and have the opportunity - and are encouraged- to take part in child/adult led activities using a range of outdoor equipment. We operate a 'free flow policy and children can move freely from inside/outside at all times of the day. We also organise outings and we have so far visited Lea Valley Farm, Paradise Wildlife Park, The Chicken Shed Theatre, Willows Farm and our local Fire Station as well as regular trips to the Dugdale theatre, the library and our local park.
